It seems that if you are a member of certain classic car clubs or supercar clubs once every 2 years they close the whole of the circuit for you to drive on, even at night. Add this to the bucket list of automotive events I must take part in.

This is what I could find from their website and it appears you need to be a member of some form of club but apparently some people just sneak in. The next one is in 2016 and i'll do my best to find my way in.

This makes for great video, but how is this even a thing? Doesn't appear to be any standard passing rules, and the cars are so varied that the closing speeds are tremendous. Plus, judging by the throttle control and commentary, it doesn't seem like the driver's are super experienced.

I don't even know, but looking at videos from some of these guys channels many of them have lots of track experience. plus the only crash I found was a dude going off in an old Porsche.

I think this is one track that might be boring in a Miata. Need to find a Corvette to run here.

Get the right car and you qualify for 'parade laps' before the classic.

Bottom video is great. Feels like a couple of ordinary chaps that found their way onto the track and are in awe.

Of course these ordinary chaps are obviously well off if they're even there, but it still makes you a little giddy listening to them.

They surely do, but blasting around that track in my daily driver would be a cooler experience for me. I could load it onto the boat with the track tires across the back seat, just like I drive it to the track here. That'd be wild!

My thoughts exactly, I'd probably act the same way if I got to do this in a Stratos.

$1,600 is for one way, I assume? Hmm. $3,200 in shipping, plus a plane ticket for me, food, hotels, fuel (at French prices, yuck), entry fee, etc. Not gonna be cheap I guess =)

Start working at home with Google! It's by-far the best job I've had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail

The logistics of a track day at La Sarthe have to be mind boggling....along with the cost. Having enough marshalls and corner workers to adequately cover an 8.4 mile long course, plus ambulances/medical if/when somebody tries something beyond their skill level. Looking at the dates on the videos it looks like it was associated with the LeMans Classic race which is held every two years. http://www.lemansclassic.com/en The "Private Cars" entry is inoperable so we can only speculate how much it costs. Looking at the Peter Auto website http://peterauto.peter.fr/en who organizes this race, along with a bunch of other classic car events, their other events seem to run about 2600 Euros for a one hour race plus 90 minutes of practice. If you want to do the whole season it is about 10k Euros. Of course you also need a "Classic Car" and a valid FiA racing license. Lord knows how much track time and $$ you'll need to get one of those here in the states.

there's two ways to be part of LeMans Classic with your car.

First is to be part of the vintage race itself. You need an ex Le Mans entrant or a car from the same type with race preparation. You need also a valid racing license or an invitation. It's pretty expensive.

But you can drive on the full track also if you get there within the clubs section.

You are a member or a friend of a car club (from Porsche to Iso Rivolta to Citroën to Corvette...) your car is on display the two full days on the infield of Le Mans and you get one or two laps of parade at speed (not at full race speed, but it's enought for most of the drivers). For only a hundred bucks.

Beeing here two Times. Great memories!

Did the Viper driver (and everyone else around him) really just take over 6 minutes to do a lap? Ugh. This is the problem with track days, half of the people treat them like a nice Sunday cruise through the mountains. It's as if they're afraid of a little tire squeal.

I just drove Le Mans. I was part of the 250 parade called Ferrari 250 TAC (Tornano A Casa). Was an epic life moment! Driving the silver 250 Pininfarina Cabriolet on the right in the 6th row.

Trust me, I know how lucky I am. I've never authored a post and don't even know how to get it on the man page of Oppo. I would do it though. I have a lot of pictures and its not over yet. Today is our last day and we are finishing by driving to Maranello and then taking the cars for laps on Fiorano. Once the event is over and I have proper wifi I'll make a post!

EDIT: It seems I can only post on my personal page, nowhere else.

The thing in Le Mans Classic is it would quite inappropriate to get off the track and damage the track (protections, sand boxes, etc.) as these "hot laps" are done inbetween regular races / qualifications sessions. There are strong instructions from the ACO about that and you do not want to try to piss them off ! :)
